It is with great sadness that the Energy Training Foundation (EnTF) learns of the passing of Al Thuman, the Energy Legend of all time and Founder of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE).
In the year that AEE celebrates it’s 40th year of existence with an evening of tributes to its Founder Al Thuman by the international AEE family at WEEC2017, held during September in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, we also bid farewell to this Legend.
It is 40 years ago that Al started an initiative which created a journey and movement of energy efficiency, energy management and sustainable development with world-wide impact. Al achieved this by creating a culture of ethics and integrity in the energy industry. He disseminated knowledge, skills, reading matter, established career profiles, and industries that has touched the lives of thousands of persons in the energy industry – whether they have managed to attain AEE Certification, or contributed to taking Al’s vision to almost all continents on the planet, or are using the optimised systems and processes brought to their organisations through his initiatives.
Known as a man of great integrity, establishing the first and still the leading professional certification body for individuals in the energy industry, the AEE, he leaves a legacy that will continue through the respect he commanded from those that have joined him in his vision.
The training partner for the Sub-Saharan and Indian Ocean Islands region for AEE, Energy Training Foundation (EnTF), the AEE Chapter the Southern African Association of Energy Efficiency Confederation (SAEEC), and the AEE Chapter Association of Energy Professionals (East Africa) (AEPEA) will continue this legacy in the region and embrace those who wish to join.
